GO GIRL is a life-changing initiative by L’Afrikana that provides psycho-social support, protection, and livelihood opportunities to teenage girls affected by early pregnancy, gender-based violence, and social injustice in Nairobi’s informal settlements. Your support helps restore dignity, rebuild confidence, and create pathways to self-reliance.
Across Nairobi’s informal settlements, hundreds of teenage girls are silently struggling with the consequences of early pregnancy, sexual abuse, gender-based violence, and forced early marriages. These challenges, intensified by the socio-economic impacts of COVID-19, have pushed many young girls out of school, into trauma, and into cycles of vulnerability that are difficult to escape. The GO GIRL Project by L’Afrikana was designed to respond directly to this crisis. This initiative targets 200 teenage girls between the ages of 13 and 25 in areas such as Kawangware, Kabiria, Kangemi, and beyond, offering them a second chance at life through structured psycho-social support and economic empowerment. These are young mothers, survivors of abuse, and girls who have faced life-altering challenges at a very early stage in life. GO GIRL focuses on restoring dignity and rebuilding lives through a holistic approach. The program provides professional counseling sessions, safe support groups, and continuous engagement with families and communities to ensure that each girl receives the emotional and social support she needs to heal and regain confidence. At the same time, the project works closely with local authorities, law enforcement, and community leaders to address the root causes of abuse and strengthen protection systems . Beyond healing, GO GIRL equips participants with livelihood skills that enable them to become economically independent. Through vocational training and integration into community-based savings and support groups, beneficiaries gain the tools to sustain themselves, support their families, and rebuild their futures with dignity. The impact goes far beyond individual transformation. When a girl is supported to heal and thrive, her family stabilizes, her community becomes safer, and the cycle of vulnerability begins to break. The project also creates long-term sustainability through community production workshops and support groups that continue beyond the initial intervention period, ensuring that progress is not temporary but lasting . However, the need is urgent and growing. Many more girls remain at risk, with limited access to support systems that can protect and empower them. Your support will directly fund counseling services, training programs, community engagement activities, and livelihood opportunities for these girls. It will allow L’Afrikana to reach more beneficiaries, strengthen its interventions, and scale a model that is already transforming lives at the grassroots level. This is more than a project. It is a pathway from trauma to healing, from exclusion to empowerment, and from vulnerability to resilience. By supporting GO GIRL, you are not just helping a girl—you are restoring a future.
